Sam Abell: The Photographic Life by Leah Bendavid-Val

$100.00

This book is a full career retrospective to the date of publication in 2002.  The book is divided into five chapters: Sam Abell, an essay by the author; The Photographic Life, and autobiography in words and photographs by Abell; and three concluding chapters, Seeking the Picture; The Photography of Places; and The Life Behind Things, each with photographs and text by Abell.

Taken together the essays and photographs form the most complete statement of Abell's editorial and artistic development.  The book accompanied a traveling exhibit of the same title organized by the University of Virginia Museum of Art, Charlottesville.
